This is definitely a product that’s loved by many so it’s no surprise that when the L’Oreal Paris True Match Concealer was 40% off at Priceline I decided to pick it up. Previously all reviews I’ve heard about it were that it was good for covering the under eye area (my biggest concern) and easy to use.
I have to say I do agree with those points. The pigmentation to start is definitely there. Although I still might use a corrector if I wanted a perfect under eye area, for every day it worked really well. It’s also very light and so it doesn’t look heavy or cakey under the eye, even though I have super dry skin and so generally concealer can get tacky under the eye.
I really liked the L’Oreal True Match applicator, it’s a flat foam tip which is easy to manoeuvre and gets a good amount of product out. The consistency of the concealer is quite wet which makes it easy to spread and blend it, ensuring a little goes a long way.
However, I do unfortunately have to say that after a couple of tries I stopped using it and will probably not use it again. This is due to the fact that there seems to be a very high level of some form of alcohol present in the product, which is also evident by the strong alcohol smell in the concealer. The smell doesn’t linger and as such I could look past it, however it did irritate my waterline incredibly, making it very red and blown up. It could be that I had the reaction to a different ingredient, but I have never encountered the problem previously, yet every time I used this concealer it did resurface.
Although the L’Oreal True Match concealer overall is a seemingly good concealer, I don’t want to have irritated eyes each time I use it so I will definitely be passing from now on.
Have you tried the True Match before? What did you think?
Love,
Sofia
that’s surprising! I always loved L’oreal products. Well, glad that I stumbled upon this review 🙂
This looks like a great product. x

Shame about it irritating your skin, if it contains alcohol that’s probably what caused the irritation especially if you had a similar experience before. It seems like a good concealer but definitely not for the sensitive skin. I tried True Match foundation and it didn’t irritate my skin, but perhaps there is more alcohol in the concealer….anyway, I’m super lazy with make up and I don’t typically use a concealer so I don’t really have much to share on the concealer subject. However, the area under the eye is generally more sensitive so it makes sense to be especially picky with products that go there and making sure they are super nice to our skin.
It’s a shame it doesn’t work for you after hearing so many good recommendations for it! I’m with you though, I have sensitive skin and especially around the eye area, I need to avoid alcohol based products!
Hope that you have a great weekend ahead of you! It’s going to be a rainy one here!

I haven’t tried any L’Oreal Paris concealers, they’ve never really appealed to me and the true match foundation didn’t agree with my skin type. I find that maybelline consistently makes the best concealers out of all drugstore brands!

This concealer sounds awful for giving you irritation, especially when you can use concealer so close to your eyes xx

I have heard a lot about this concealer, however, haven’t tried it yet. It is really shame with the alcohol smell, it can be really irritating, especially if you have sensitive eyes/skin!

I avoid brands that test on animals but you should check out Shape Tape from Tarte, it’s literally the best under eye concealer I’ve ever used!

I haven’t tried this yet, or I never will. Sounds great but if it has too much alcohol, it might irritate my skin.

I love L’Oreal so much but I agree with you about the alcohol or something, their bases and concealers all irritate my skin.
