It is without a doubt that mascaras are up there with some of my most favorite things to try and this Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara is no exception. It had so much hype, I was very exited to finally try it out!
I have super blond lashes so when I don’t have mascara on them it pretty much looks like I don’t have any lashes at all. As such, I expect a lot from my mascaras. In terms of the packaging I quite liked that it was purple and in general different to most mascaras, making it easier to find.
It did last quite a while before it started to dry out which is of course good. It’s not crazy expensive (RRP $29 AUD) but it’s also not as cheap as drugstore ones so you would want it to last longer. The wand itself isn’t plastic and not too huge and I found it easy to use.
In terms of the formula itself, it’s a very dark black, which is exactly what I go for. It doesn’t feel heavy on your lashes, even after a couple of coats. It did give a lot of volume to my lashes and a little length too. Though making your lashes look fuller is definitely what you would get this mascara for. Personally I preferred two coats but if you’re after a more natural look then one is enough. It’s best to apply the second coat before the first dries as once it dries it doesn’t apply as nicely and clumps together.
The main thing I didn’t like in it however, is that it did rub off under the eyes at times. It would start to eventually crumble and disappear which is a bit of a shame. However this did mean that it was very easy to wash off which is a plus! I think if you wanted to try this mascara and especially if you have watery eyes, you should try the waterproof version. I haven’t tried it but it could be a good alternative.
Have you tried the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara before? What mascaras do you like?
