A couple of weekends ago, Michael and I went and spent two nights on an alpaca farm. We’d gone there previously for my birthday a couple of years back and thought it was time we revisited.
We left early on Friday morning and first stopped off at Harvey to go to the cheese factory that is there. We then continued on with our three-hour drive to Balingup WA.
The place we stayed is called Jalbrook Cottages and it’s an alpaca farm! The cottage we got this time was right in front of where the alpacas were so we could always see them and hear them (they were surprisingly super loud)!
On Saturday morning we decided to do the 12km walk we’d done last time we were hear. It’s a trail that’s part of the Bibbulum track, which runs down WA. Last time, we were there around the end of May, when it was quite a bit colder. This time however, it was still April and quite a warm one at that. What this mainly meant is that none of the insects were gone yet. There were so many massive spider webs everywhere that eventually I couldn’t go any further. They were literally hanging from tree to tree and although Michael walked in front of me, once we’d climbed the massive hill that’s part of the trail, we decided to turn back.
To fill in the time, we went walking in the Golden Valley Tree Park and did a short walk there. It was a lot nicer as it was a fair lot easier and filled with a lot less spiders. The trees there were all from different parts of the world and you could really tell that Autumn was settling in.
As for the rest of the time, we just chilled out, read our books and sat in the amazing, hot, outdoor spa. It really was an awesome and relaxing weekend away!
