Nars VS Elf | The Ultimate Dupe?!

Nars Duo & Elf Duo Open Nars & Elf Duos

The classic Nars duo which consists of the blush in Orgasm and the bronzer in Laguna, has often be said to be duped by the Elf duo St Lucia which consists of a blush and bronzer as well.

So I decide to get the Elf duo as I already had the Nars one and see for myself.

I think by the packaging, it’s definitely a dupe. Although the Nars one does feel more luxurious as it isn’t just cheap plastic like the Elf one, the whole sizing of the compact is the same. It’s the same classic black with white writing on top. I do really like the packaging of both. I also don’t think they’d break easily.

Blushes

I’ll start with the blushes. The Orgasm blush from Nars is a light pink with golden flecks in it. It gives off a healthy glow without being too glittery. The Elf blush on the other hand is completely matte and coral. Although both, in my opinion, are beautiful shades and of quite good quality, they are definitely not dupes. Not at all.

Bronzers

As for the bronzers, Laguna is a very light, warm, matte shade that looks very natural as it’s so light in pigment. The Elf bronzer is far more pigmented than Laguna, though it is still warm. It’s a little harder to blend then Laguna because of the pigment and it does come off a little chalky. But even if you ignore the quality, the shades are still very different.

Elf: Top Two Nars: Bottom Two

In my opinion, these are most certainly not dupes. The only thing that is similar is the packaging. So if you’re looking to save some money but still want the shades in the Nars duo, then the Elf one won’t give you that. Though saying that, I think both palettes are quite nice so if you’re not phased about the shades as much, I’d definitely recommend you check out the Elf one.

What are some of your favorite dupes?

Love,

Sofia

Even though they aren’t really dupes, I’d still love to try the Elf palette. It sounds pretty impressive for the price point and the swatches look great! I am obsessed with the amazing quality of Nars’ blushes and bronzers, though. They’d be very hard to beat by any brand in my eyes, let alone such an affordable one!

Yeah exactly it depends what you’re after but for the price elf did super well I think! Agree though, NARS is amazing! Xx

Yeah I think the blushes are definitely less of a dupe compared to the bronzers! xx

I weirdly actually prefer the packaging of the Elf product – even though it’s clearly ripped off of NARS I just like the size of the pans more. But NARS are wonderful, and Laguna & Orgasm are such amazing products. You’re right, definitely not the same but they both look lovely. I’m definitely going to check the Elf product out though!

Yeah I think the Elf one has bigger pans so you get more product! They are both stunning but yeah definitely check out the Elf one! xx

I used to use the elf brozer. I stopped though because I’m trying to use less makeup products so my skin clears up. When I did use it though, it did a decent job

I find that ELF products can be a hit or miss. Sometimes their pigmentation/colours are spot on and sometimes they are patchy.

I had completely forgotten I was going to try the Nars duo, thanks so much for the reminder! It really does look like a gorgeous product – and like you say, one that the Elf ‘dupe’ doesn’t 100% compare to. Have a lovely week!

As soon as I saw the palettes open and I saw the difference in pigments and colours, I could tell they weren’t dupes. However, I quite like the differences of both actually! Great review!

I have the Elf one but I ordered the creamy version of St Lucia instead of the powder and I haven’t used it much. Need to re-discover it and give it a try once again, I find it difficult to blend creamy formulas.

This is quite an interesting post – I love NARS but I have never used ELF.
In fact I am not sure we have it stocked in OZ.
Plus I am not a big fan of blush since I already go a bit red – so it is great to hear what other people think of things I don’t use!
