Tarte Rainforest After Dark Palette | Review

I was so excited when I got this! I’ve heard so many good things about Tarte and the packaging of this palette is to die for!!!

It’s a deep brown, fake wood effect with a golden snake on the front and a purple gem. It’s sturdy, sleek and feels luxury.
The colours inside are absolutely stunning as well. The palette consists of a bronzer, blush, highlight and six eyeshadows, three of which are matte and three are slightly shimmery.

Lets start with the face products. The bronzer (Park Ave Princess) is a warm, matte shade, perfect for bronzing. It’s not pigmented enough for contouring, however it is great as an overall bronze shade. The highlighter (Champagne) is a matte, pretty pigmented shade, which gives a very natural glow to the face. It’s not anything extreme and is definitely for use in situations when you just want to subtly highlight. Personally I loved this shade for a more underneath my brows highlight rather than on the cheekbones. The blush (Unleashed) is a matte, muted  rose pink, which on me comes of as more of a coral shade and isn’t highly pigmented. But I find this great as it allows me to build it up to the shade that I want (which on my winter, no tan skin, is a lot safer). All three are easy to blend and are great for a very natural look.

The eyeshadows have a great range, so you’re able to create a few looks with them. I think overall, it’s worth wearing them with an eyeshadow primer or on top of a concealer because, as you can see below, the pigment in them comes through a lot more then. They also last far longer that way. Although they aren’t very pigmented by themselves, they do blend really easily, which is always a good thing.

My favorite shades are definitely Up To No Gold and Plum Away With Me as they are both more pigmented then the rest and have a gorgeous shine in them.
So overall, I think it’s a great natural palette, with your basics in it. The range of eyeshadows is great for any occasion and the face shades can create a pretty soft, natural look. I think this is a great travelling item, as it contains so many things in one.
I got this from Sephora and it was $65. You can check it out here.
Have you tried this palette before? What did you think?
Love,

    1. Yeah exactly!! It has some different interesting shades which I think would look flattering on most skin tones too 🙂 Definitely check them out, apparently the concealer in this range is really good as well! X
